Suon (Cambridge) Awards Carillion �8m Cambridge Research Park Contract
12th August 1999 Suon (Cambridge) Ltd., has awarded an �8 million contract to Carillion (formerly) Tarmac Construction Ltd to build a new regional head office on the Cambridge Research Park at Waterbeach, on the A10 Ely Road. The office will be occupied by ntl, now the largest cable company in great Britain. The contract is for a design and build project totalling 5,880.70 sq metres (63,300 sq ft). The three-storey building was designed by Cambridge-based architects Frank Shaw Associates on Plot 9000 site totalling 7 acres. Nic Rumsey, director of Suon Cambridge, said, "We are going full steam ahead at Cambridge; We have just completed a building for Diomed, the world leader in surgical diode lasers who will be moving onto the park in September and ntl's building will be ready for the company next summer. "We are currently in discussions with a number of other major Cambridge research and development companies and hope to make further announcements shortly," he added. Suon Cambridge, is a joint venture between Carisbrooke Investments and Suon. The letting agents for the Cambridge Research Park are Rumsey & Partners, FPD Savills and Gerald Eve.
