Cambridge Research Park Poaches Cambridge Cable from Science Park
16 February 2026 Suon, the developer of the Cambridge Research Park has pre-let a 63,300 sq ft office and R&D; building to Cambridge Cable, one of the city's leading high-tech companies, at 16.36 per sq ft. The company is moving from the Cambridge Science Park and three other locations in Cambridge to the research park on the A10 Ely Road. It is taking the 7-acre, Plot 9000 site, on a 15 year lease with five yearly rent reviews and has agreed a three month rent free period. Cambridge Cable is the second leading R& D company to leave an established business location for the congestion free environment of the research park which also offers expansion land. Last Summer Diomed, announced it was leaving the St John's Innovation Centre to take a 20,000 sq ft unit at the 600,000 sq ft park. Nic Rumsey, of Suon Cambridge Ltd, said, "Cambridge Cable's decision to move to our scheme firmly establishes the park as one of the premier research and development locations in the city. "We are attracting considerable interest from Cambridge occupiers because we can offer them what they don't have currently - a congestion free environment and room for expansion," he added. The pre-letting to Cambridge Cable vindicates Suon's decision to go-ahead and obtain detailed planning consent for the second phase of the research park which was granted in January and will provide the 40,680.7 sq metre (437,838 sq ft) outstanding balance of the scheme. A key feature of the park will be the additional services it provides for occupiers. Last year Suon signed an agreement with the Four Pillars Hotels Group to build a four-star 120-bed hotel, conference and leisure centre at the park. Suon Cambridge Ltd, is a joint venture between Carisbrooke Investments Ltd and Suon Ltd. Cambridge Cable, which is part of NTL, was advised by Barker Storey Matthews Sumpster Robinson while the letting agents for the Cambridge Research Park are Rumsey & Partners, FPD Savills and Gerald Eve
