Suon Cambridge Ltd Awards Contracts Totalling Over �3.7m
16 September 2025 Suon Cambridge Ltd has awarded three construction contracts on the Cambridge Research Park, A10, Ely Road, Cambridge, worth more than �3.7million, following the pre-letting of its first unit to Diomed and the granting of planning permission for a speculative unit. Fitzwise Limited was awarded the earthworks and reclamation contract worth �502,000 to redistribute the water and land mass within Phase 1. These works will be complete within four weeks. Wates Construction has been awarded a �1.761m contract to build Diomed House. The two-storey headquarters building for Diomed, the world leader in surgical diode lasers, will comprise office and laboratory accommodation totalling 1,903 sq m (20,500 sq ft). It has been let on a 25 year FRI lease. In addition, Suon Cambridge has recently forward sold the unit to investor, SPP, for �3.84 million. Suon has awarded local company J Breheny Contractors Ltd a �1.46 million contract to construct the dual carriageway estate road and internal roundabout for phase one of the research park. Breheny, which is based in Huntingdon, will also be responsible for laying the foul and surface water sewage, distribution of all mains services, landscaping the A10 roundabout and the whole of Phase 1. Both Wates and Breheneys should be on site shortly. Suon plans to provide as many facilities as possible for the occupiers of the Cambridge Research Park, which has recently signed an agreement with Four Pillars Hotel Group to build a 120-room, four-star hotel, conference and leisure centre on the site.
