Opening of New Roundabout at Cambridge Research Park
4 Aug 2025 The new roundabout at the entrance to the 100 million Cambridge Research Park, on the A10, Ely Road, Landbeach, has been completed. It was handed over to the Highways Agency by the developer Suon (Cambridge) Ltd on Monday, 3 August 1998. The contractor was French Kier (Eastern) Ltd. Nic Rumsey, director of Carisbrooke Investments Ltd, which is developing the 600,000 sq ft park jointly with Suon Ltd, said, "As each month goes by the Cambridge Research Park becomes more of a reality. The new roundabout will enable easy access to this important new research and development business park for Cambridge. "We are grateful to all those travellers on the A10 over the last few months who may have been delayed by the construction of the roundabout, and hope that its completion will make their journey that bit easier," Rumsey added. Development activity at the Cambridge Research Park is gathering pace. A 20,000 sq ft unit has already been let to Diomed Ltd, the world leader in surgical diode lasers which was previously located at the St John's Innovation Centre in Cambridge, and there is detailed planning consent for a 32,000 sq ft building which could be built by next May. The developer is in negotiations with a hotel operator to build a 120-bed hotel with associated leisure and conference facilities on the site.
