The Cambridge Research Park Gains Detailed Planning Consent on First
3 July 2025 Suon Cambridge Ltd, a joint venture between Suon and Carisbrooke Investments Ltd, has received detailed planning consent to build Diomed House, Diomed's new headquarters building. Diomed, the world leader in surgical diode lasers, is the first tenant on the Cambridge Research Park. The proposed two-storey building will comprise office and laboratory accommodation totalling 1,858.5 sq m (20,000 sq ft). It has been pre-let to Diomed on a 25 year FRI lease with five yearly upwards only rent reviews containing lease breaks at the 15th and 20th years. Delegated Powers were given to the planning officer to approve the revised speculative building, subject to further consultation. This will be a two-storey building comprising 2,943.8 sq m (31,687 sq ft) net, capable of being used for a range of research and development, laboratory and office uses. Nic Rumsey, director of Carisbrooke Investments, said, "We intend to start work on the buildings immediately and have the units ready by Spring next year."
