Highway Agency Appoint French Kier East Anglia Ltd to Carry Out A10 Roundabout for Cambridge Research
April 1998 Following Suon granting French Kier a 138,000 earthworks contract at the front of the Cambridge Research Park, the Government Highway Agency has awarded them a 480,000 contract to build the new A10 roundabout which will access the development. Suon are funding the works. The Earthworks have already commenced and will comprise draining part of one of the lakes fronting the site and creating a land mass for a new roundabout on the A10 Ely Road, to open up the site. The main roundabout work will commence on April 14, after Easter. Nic Rumsey of Carisbrooke Investments which is the joint owner of Suon Cambridge Ltd, says, "This latest contract is the first stage of opening the scheme for development. A further contract will shortly be let to build the dual carriageway Estate Road, filter lane and internal roundabout. Combined, all these highway works will ensure that the Cambridge Research Park would not suffer from the congestion surrounding the existing Science and Business Park."
