Four Pillars Hotel Group commit to the Park!

The Cambridge Research Park is to get a four-star 120-bed hotel, conference and leisure centre as part of a joint venture between Suon Cambridge and the Four Pillars Hotel Group.

Details of the scheme are currently being planned for submission to South Cambridgeshire District Council and it is expected to be open by the Summer of 2000.

The Oxfordshire-based Four Pillars Hotel Group already has five hotels with another one starting shortly in the centre of Oxford.

Brian Murtagh, chairman of the Four Pillars Hotel Group, said, "We are delighted to have signed this agreement with the developers of the Research Park. Cambridge, like Oxford, is desperate for hotel accommodation of all kinds; we will be focusing on business customers, tourists and the conference sector," he adds.

The hotel has not yet been designed but Murtagh plans to build a modern hotel that will fit in with the buildings on the research park. In addition to the normal restaurant and bars, it will include conference facilities together with a swimming pool, gym, saunas, jacuzzis and a steam room.

Nic Rumsey, director of Suon Cambridge Ltd, says, "This demonstrates the location benefits of the Park and we are very pleased to have secured a hotel so quickly. This first class amenity for the Cambridge Research Park is not offered by most of the developments in Cambridge and will be of direct benefit to occupiers as well as visitors to the development."
